Maintenance Person

Company: Hartmore Genesis CTE Ltd, Staunton, Gloucestershire.

Salary: Pro-rated according to part time hours worked.
             Full Time Equivalent annual salary of £26,000-£28,000.        

Job Type: Part time. 24-32 hours per week over 3-4 days.

About Us

Hartmore Genesis CTE Ltd is a compassionate care provider situated in Gloucestershire, dedicated to supporting young individuals aged 8 to 18 who have experienced trauma. In addition to our residential care services, we operate three school settings offering Special Educational Needs (SEN) education. Our mission is to empower young people to lead fulfilling lives.

 

We are seeking a individual who will oversee maintenance of facilities across Hartmore Genesis, including both our therapeutic care homes and educational care settings which are surround our head office in Staunton, Gloucestershire. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant experience, skills, knowledge and training to support a maintenance position.

  • Health and Safety training as an on-going commitment.

  • Experience of working with young people in a residential care or school setting

  • An awareness of and commitment to working in a non-discriminatory manner

  • Ability to constructively engage with a wide network of professionals.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • A full UK Driving Licence.

  • A DBS certificate and registration with the DBS update service is required. As our company work in a regulated sector, an enhanced DBS clearance certificate is mandatory.

 

The following job description is not exhaustive and reflects only the main areas of responsibility. 

The post holder is expected to adopt a flexible approach.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide maintenance, general repairs, decorating to all facilities, under the direction of the Head of Maintenance.

  • Work within agreed Genesis CTE and Hartmore Policies and Procedures. Participate in regular evaluation of services and report any maintenance issues accordingly-

  • Monitor that equipment is always kept clean, tidy and safe. Be responsible for storing and maintenance of all equipment used.

  • Carry out Risk Assessments of maintenance tasks as and when appropriate.

  • Ensure the use of relevant safety equipment and clothing as appropriate.  Ensure first aid training is up to date.  Undertake specific Health & Safety courses regarding equipment as directed.

  • Work in a way which contributes to Health & Safety, welfare and the well-being of all. Ensure awareness of fire procedures etc.

  • To maintain an accurate Maintenance Record Keeping System.

  • Decorate and undertake routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning to the interior and exterior of the facilities.

  • To provide maintenance and general repairs which may include for example- decorating to all facilities, Carpentry skills to replace doors and wooden fixtures, basic plumbing (Replacement of taps etc), basic electrical repairs (like for like replacement of broken light switches and sockets), making safe broken fixtures (Broken windows etc), General installing of fixtures and fittings under the direction of the Head of Maintenance.

  • Be aware of all relevant legislation particularly the Children’s Act 1989 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.

  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in relation to Policies and Procedures.

  • Attend all relevant, mandatory and refresher training to ensure knowledge and skills are updated and refreshed.​​

Our Recruitment Process

Step One.

Apply for your chosen role. If successful you will be contacted to complete a face-to-face interview at our head office with relevant managers. 

Step Two. 

If successful you will receive an offer subject to receipt of safe recruitment documents and relevant references, at which point a contract will be issued.

Step Three. 

A start date is provided to commence a six-month probationary period which includes an in depth induction process covering relevant training and safeguarding.

Step Four. 

After three-months a review is completed with a relevant manager, allowing for a review in training and ongoing progress.

Step Five.

Probationary period is reviewed, providing the opportunity for employees to enrol into further training and qualifications.
