Location: Burrow. (Worcestershire). 
Salary: £45,000 per annum. Plus potential £5000 bonus.

About Us

At Genesis, we provide a therapeutic, stable, and nurturing environment for young people aged 13 to 21 who have experienced significant trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or challenging life circumstances. Our homes, located in picturesque Gloucestershire and Worcestershire boarder settings, offer a structured and secure environment underpinned by clinical and educational expertise. In addition we also operate a specialist SEN school, ensuring each young person receives the education and emotional support they need to thrive.
 

Role Overview

We are seeking a Register Manager or experienced Senior Therapeutic Care Worker ready to progress into the role a Registered Manager. This position offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives by providing compassionate, trauma-informed care within a stable and well-supported environment, working closely with the clinical services team to ensure a genuinely therapeutic approach. Managing all aspects of the home ensuring compliance with all legislation as a minimum, leading a team of care workers and liaising with all stakeholders to create positive and measurable outcomes for every child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the home in accordance with the Statement of Purpose, including the programmes of care and placement plans, maintaining a commitment to the ideals and principles of a person-centred therapeutic service, and ensuring a consistency of approach.

  • Maintain the highest standards of care within the guidelines, policies and procedures of Genesis CTE, in addition to all relevant legislation, working towards positive and measurable outcomes for every young person.

  • Work closely with the Head Teacher, Hartmore School and other relevant education professionals to ensure the children can realise their educational potential, and ensure all staff are appropriately supportive of their education, providing assistance with homework and tailoring activities.

  • Collaborate closely with external agencies and professionals to deliver the best possible outcome for each child, ensuring effective, professional communication and working relationships at all times, and acting upon recommendations from external inspections.

  • Develop, maintain, monitor and regularly evaluate all placement plans and, the placing agency and other professionals, and the young people themselves, prioritising agreed intervention programmes.

  • Ensure that each child is provided with appropriate opportunities to develop life skills and positive and constructive social activities commensurate with their age, interests and abilities, ensuring issues of diversity are taken into account.

  • Lead and develop the team; ensuring a good mix of skills and abilities; overseeing and contributing to all training and development; undertaking and/or facilitating effective supervisions to the required frequency, creating a reflective and learning approach; and managing performance (in liaison with the HR Department as appropriate);  

  • Contribute to recruitment, induction and training strategies and programmes by sharing ideas and feedback, participating in selection panels and mentoring team members through their QCF programmes.

  • Act as the responsible person for Health and Safety (including food hygiene) within the home; monitoring all aspects, ensuring all team members are aware of the policy and procedures (including fire procedures), and that they are followed at all times.

  • Ensure the storage, administration and record keeping in relation to medication complies with the policy guidelines and safety standards, and that only fully trained team members are delegated responsibility.

  • Work in close liaison with the Responsible Individual to proactively and effectively manage new referrals and admissions, and plan discharges, in conjunction with placing agencies and other professionals as required.

  • Oversee and contribute to all written records, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy, and undertaking checks as per legislative requirements.

  • Ensure the interior and exterior of the home are maintained to the highest possible standard at all times, providing a clean, safe and welcoming environment for young people and employees.

  • Contribute to the overall performance of Genesis CTE Limited, the achievement of our mission statement and the development of our service, through the sharing of good practice, attendance at management meetings, and close working relationships with peers across the organisation.

  • Proactively maintain personal, continuous professional development, undertaking further reading and training as required and keeping up-to-date with changes in the profession.

  • Undertake ‘on-call’ duties as required, maintaining appropriate records, working in conjunction with management colleagues.

This job description is not designed to be comprehensive and the post holder is expected to adopt a flexible approach, undertaking additional duties from time to time and providing cover for colleagues, to ensure the success of the organisation.

Additionally, the post-holder is expected to comply with all company policies and processes at all times, and all relevant legislation, paying particular attention to matters of safeguarding children, health and safety, data protection and equality and diversity. 

What We're Looking For

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential).

  • NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services or equivalent.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. (favourable but not essential). 

  • A valid UK manual driving licence (essential for transporting young people).

  • Demonstrable and considerable experience in residential care settings for children.

  • Demonstrable experience as a Deputy Manager leading and supervising teams, supporting and mentoring learning, and managing performance.

  • Proven success as a Registered Manager in a similar setting is favourable but not essential. 

  • A knowledge and understanding of OFSTED/CCSIW/CQC regulations and operating standards.

  • A knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, both child and adult workforce. 

  • Operating processes and documentation requirements of a residential home, including the knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and food hygiene. 

  • Knowledge of child development, attachment theory and therapeutic approaches to child & adult care.

  • Good written and organisational skills for managing documentation and compliance.

  • The ability to provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced staff.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to be tactful and diplomatic, and manage professional relationships effectively.

  • A caring and emotionally resilient nature, able to perform under pressure.

  • Commitment to continuously improve service delivery with an open mind flexible to new ways of working.

  • Ability to balance the needs of the children, home and organisation.

  • Creative, practical, or interpersonal skills such as music, sport, DIY, IT, or tutoring are also favourable. 

Essential Criteria 

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance (company funded).

  • 21 years of age or older (in line with regulatory requirements).

  • Willingness to work a varied shift pattern.

Our Recruitment Process

Step One.

Apply for your chosen role. If successful you will be contacted to complete a face-to-face interview at our head office with relevant managers. 

Step Two. 

If successful you will receive an offer subject to receipt of safe recruitment documents and relevant references, at which point a contract will be issued.

Step Three. 

A start stae is provided to commence a six-month probationary period which includes an indepth induction process covering relevant trainign and safeguarding.

Step Four. 

After three-months a review is completed with a relevant manager, allowing for a review in training and ongoing progress.

Step Five.

Probationary period is reviewed, providing the opportunity for employees to enrol into further training and qualifications.
